This blog has been created to have a place to discuss just about anything in the wacky world of entertainment and present day crap journalism. I and others have had lengthy conversations on how some things are really going to hell in a hand basket. Below is a link to a very interesting article from someone in the music business who pretty much agrees with a lot of what I've been saying for quite some time: Radio and record labels as they are today need to die and we need to let them. These entities are just a flush away and the only thing left is to scrap the old concepts and begin anew. I welcome discussions so please take a moment to read.

I think when Clay Aiken is finished with his RCA contract he should start his own website and offer new songs for 99 cents each just like iTunes. I bet there are many song writers who would love to offer him songs to sing. He would probably make more money selling his own music online than through a record label. He could premier his own videos on the site as well.
I love the idea of this blog. It's time the general public began to understand what's been going on in the music industry. Perhaps good change will come of some in depth information.
I hate the way the labels and radio work hand in hand. It seems like they want to hand pick the people who become the next big thing in music and ignore those with real talent like Clay Aiken. If the label had worked with Clay the way they worked to get unknowns like Leona Lewis (nothing against her) out to the American public, they could have had a big money maker. Instead they stifled him and blackballed him from the radio. It's time from some of the old coots at the labels to retire. Put the music out there and let the public decide who they like instead of pushing people at us.
They do need to start over and get with with what is right and not keep doing what is wrong.
The music business is going to change. Not working at this time. When I saw that LL is performing at the Olympic final I thought "Why not Clay Aiken?" Oh that's right SC loves LL.
Clay Aiken is so much more talented and I think has received little from AI. Yes he got his start but what about now??
As I understood the comments in that article only the talented will survive this music industry makeover. The labels have to do a 180 and concentrate heavily on the talent and crank more singles if they are going to compete with or on the internet.
I have really missed radio. I don't listen anymore because the play lists are so short and the selection sucks. The sad thing is that not everyone has a computer.
I think it would be great if Clay Aiken and the Fosters have something up their sleeves to beat the radio game. I'll be paying much attention and as the crash happens I will drink a toast to the new wave while singing "Memories".
To add to my previous post:
That would be Barbra's version of "Memories" and not a copycat version by LL.
pourri, isn't that the truth about the playlists on radio. Think they play the same 12 songs over and over. And they wonder why no one's listening. If they'd play Clay Aiken we'd listen.
Yes, even the Oldies stations have limited play lists. What a shame.
There was a time when I had my radio on all day long. Now I never turn it on because I got sick of hearing the same songs over and over and over.
Supposedly payola doesn't exist, but I don't believe that.
I do not listen to the radio anymore, except when I am in a traffic jam and want the traffic news. I would listen to music on the radio if they played artists like Clay Aiken.
AND, I hate to support a system that is border-line illegal.
I never listen to the radio either and still can't believe there seems to be such a stigma in having Clays music on the radio - just defies belief.
That is an interesting subtopic: Why not Clay Aiken? I believe that Clive put the screws to him because Clay wouldn't support payola and he wouldn't get raunchy to appease the music industry's target audience. That target audience has changed from fun-loving teens and preteens into novelty type songs and music-loving individuals to people who will whack off to something....anything.
I reckon there are so many songwriters that would be honoured to have Clay Aiken singing their music. Their songs sung by people who can actually sing..
I don't know how it all works but things are so limited in today's music world. I would love more songs from Clay Aiken.
What will happen to the beautiful music of OMWH? Radio doesn't interest me either. I'd rather listen to "That's Where I draw the Line" and "Sacrificial Love" (My two favorites at the moment) over and over on my CD player.
Rap and Hip Hop ruined radio. This generation won't listen to anything that's not considered "cool". Too bad "cool" can't include all kinds of music.
Clay Aiken has so much talent. I just love his new CD. You can hear some of his new songs here:

Clay Aiken's CD's should have been heard on the radio. There is no good reason why they weren't. Esp. when the same stations will play every other AI alumni
I think what radio should do is play some newer songs. They need to draw people to something they can't get on their IPOD. The chance to hear something new that they want to buy. Instead, they play the same thing over and over and if you haven't already purchased the song and have it on your IPOD, you don't want to hear it.
That was very informative. I'm so sick of weeding through the garbage on the radio and TV to find good music. I have to admit I still like buying CD's. I don't care who is behind the production - I like the liner notes and artwork. Clay's are beautiful. But I don't think he or any talented musician needs a record label to produce beautiful CDs for me. They can do it all themselves.
Radio is a wasteland. Payola reigns supreme. Playlists regurgitate the same old same old.
I have criscrossed the eastern seaboard for years and you hear the same 20 or so songs on every frickin' radio station!
Enough!
Thanks for posting that article. A wealth of insight in there!
Record labels are dinosaurs. Wish extinction would happen soon.
Clay Aiken needs to be set free. For too long he has been held back and underpromoted.

The record labels really need to just go away. I hope Clay Aiken goes to a label that will promote him and support him someday.
